VPN Client Won't Install on Mac | OS X

If you attempt to install the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client on your Mac and it complains that the software is already installed - but you don't see it in Applications - it could be the result of a failed previous installation.   To correct this and have your Mac 'forget' the install:

in Terminal.app:

sudo pkgutil --forget com.cisco.pkg.anyconnect.vpn

If the command run successfully,  you can reinstall the client.
