Start a conversation

Connecting to Eduroam - Windows 10 / Mac OSX / Android / iOS

Please follow the steps below to connect to the Virginia Tech EDUROAM wireless network. 

Windows 10

  1. Verify that you have access to EDUROAM and you know your network password
  2. Near the lower-right of your screen, to the right of the time, in the notification area, click network.
  3. Click eduroam.
  4. Click Connect.
  5. In the User name text box, type your Virginia Tech email address including @vt.edu.
  6. In the Password text box, type your network password.
    (This is different from your VT Username (PID) passphrase.)
  7. Click OK.
  8. If asked to accept a certificate, follow the prompts to accept or install the certificate.

Mac OS

  1. Verify that you have access to EDUROAM and you know your network password
  2. From the Apple drop-down, click System Preferences....
  3. Click Network.
  4. In the left menu column, click Wi-Fi.
  5. In the right pane, in the Network Name: drop-down, click eduroam.
  6. In the Username: text box, type your Virginia Tech email address including @vt.edu.
  7. In the Password: text box, type your network password.
    (This is different from your VT Username (PID) passphrase.)
  8. Click Join.
  9. If asked to accept a certificate, follow the prompts to accept or install the certificate.

Android

Verify that you have access to EDUROAM and you know your network password

  1. Tap Menu, which is represented by a grid of dots.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. From the menu, tap Wireless networks.
  4. Tap Wi-Fi settings.
  5. Tap eduroam.
  6. If it is not already selected, from the EAP method drop-down, tap PEAP.
  7. From the Phase 2 authentication drop-down, tap MSCHAPv2.
  8. From the CA certificate drop-down, tap Use system certificates.
  9. In the Domain text box, type: vt.edu.
  10. You may have to scroll down to see more text boxes.
  11. In the Identity text box, type your Virginia Tech email address including @vt.edu.
    (If an extra space character was added at the end by autocorrect, delete the extra space.)
  12. Clear the Anonymous identity text box so that it is empty.
  13. In the Password text box, type your network password.
    (This is different from your VT Username (PID) passphrase.)
  14. Tap Connect.

iOS (iPhone / iPad)

  1. Verify that you have access to EDUROAM and you know your network password
  2. On the home screen, tap Settings.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. Tap eduroam.
  5. In the Username text box, type your Virginia Tech email address including @vt.edu.
    (If an extra space character was added at the end by autocorrect, delete the extra space.)
  6. In the Password text box, type your network password.
    (This is different from your VT Username (PID) passphrase.)
  7. Tap Join.
  8. If asked to accept a certificate, follow the prompts to accept / install the certificate.
