Google Photos - End of Support

GOOGLE PHOTOS WILL BE DISABLED BY VIRGINIA TECH ON JAUNUARY 16, 2024 AND ALL DATA WILL BE INACCESSIBLE

ACTION ITEMS FOR YOU:

  • Log into Google Photos and review the photos and videos you have stored there.
  • Delete any content you no longer wish to keep.
    • Empty your Google Photos trash.
  • Download all content you wish to keep.
    • If personal data, you will need to download and store this on a personal device or storage.  It is not appropriate and is against university policy to store personal data on Virginia Tech assets.
    • If FBRI / Virginia Tech related data, you have the following options:
      • Lab related data:
        • Move the data to your Lab share.
      • Individual related data:
        • Move the data to your FBRI home directory.
        • Move the data to Microsoft One Drive.
    • Once all data has been downloaded:
      • Delete all content from Google Photos (this is an important step, do not skip!)
      • Empty your Google Photos trash.

PLEASE NOTE: We (FBRI IT) do not have access to your Google Photos or storage.  We can assist you with these tasks but cannot do them without your assistance.
