Software acquisition for Fralin Biomedical Research Institute
To purchase any software for use at FBRI, please start a conversation with the FBRI IT Team.
This conversation should include the name of the software desired, the name of the individual for whom the software is being purchased, the system on which the software will be installed (the VT Asset Tag number/hostname of the computer), and the fund number to be charged for the purchase.

- Creative Cloud for Teams ("Named User" and "Shared Device" licenses

- Graphpad PRISM (machine license) - Expires February 28th of every year. See detailed guidance
- QuestionPro is available at no cost. Qualtrics is available via FBRI site license

Important Notes:
- Some Departmental Software requires a license agreement that you will need to download, sign, scan to your email, and attach to your Help Center ticket (see the links below)

Additionally, there are several license that have fixed expiration dates. While some vendors pro-rate their prices, others do not.
- Camtasia
- Microsoft - Several Microsoft products require license agreements.
- Minitab - Annual - Expires July 31st
- National Intruments LabView - Annual - Expires May 30th
- SAS - Annual - Expires July 31
- SPSS - Annual - Expires July 1

Non-standard software:
There are numerous software packages available outside of the Departmental Software list:
- Autodesk has several application packages available for Students, Educators, and Administrators free of charge directly from their website.
For software not listed here or on the Departmental Software website, You should go to the VT Cobblestone page to determine if the software is currently authorized by VT for use on University computers.
