Installing Outlook on Your iOS Device

Outlook can be setup on your mobile device to allow you to receive your FBRI emails on the go.  

  1. Go to the App Store on your device and download Microsoft Outlook. ( Apple iTunes)
  2. Once installed, open Outlook
  3. Click Get Started if prompted.
  4. On the Add Account Screen, enter your FBRI email address (ex. bjones3@vtc.vt.edu)  then press Return on your devices keyboard to continue to the next screen.
  5. If you are redirected to a Sign in with Google screen, do not enter anything and press Done in the upper left corner. 
  6. You will be retuned to the Add Account screen and should now have a Setup Account Manually button. 
  7. Press Setup Account Manually
  8. On the Choose account type screen, select Exchange
  9. Select the Advanced Settings checkbox at the bottom.
  10. Fill in the following details:
    • Email Address: Your email address (user@vtc.vt.edu)
    • Password: Your password
    • Description: Some descriptive name so you know the account (i.e. FBRI).
    • Server:  webmail.vtc.vt.edu
    • Domain:  vtcri
    • User:  your FBRI username
  11. Click the check at the top to finish.  If it prompts you to add another account, press Maybe Later.
  12. You then be directed to a brief tutorial which you may skip and will then be directed to your inbox. 


Note:
If you are recieving an cannot connect or invalid password when attempting to add your FBRI Email Account, please follow these steps:
1. Navigate to the iPhone settings menu
2. Select General
3. Select iPhone Storage
4. Scroll down to and select the Outlook App (you may need to "Show All" at the bottom of the list)
5. Press the "Offload App" button which will clear the App cache
6. Then delete the app
7. Leave iPhone settings and install the Outlook App from the App Store
8. Follow the account settings and be sure to add you FBRI account email first, if you add another account first you may recieve another error.
